Eneida Hysi

President

Eneida Hysi is a senior at the University of Michigan studying International Studies with an International Security, Norms & Cooperation in the Middle East focus and a minor in History of Law and Policy. She is a three-times immigrant from Greece and Albania and hopes to pursue a career in immigrant and refugee rights advocacy through law. At the University of Michigan she is a student writer at the Immigrant Justice Lab where she independently writes asylum briefs for unaccompanied asylum seekers. She is serving as the president of [RE]Vive during the 2020-2021 term. At [RE]vive, she’s led and managed several refugee education initiatives, including biweekly educational workshops for refugee youth, an English-as-a-second-language program, and [RE]vive’s Davis Peace Project Award. After graduation and before attending graduate school, she will be joining 2021-2022 City Year Detroit as an AmeriCorps member.

Basil Alsubee

Curriculum Chair

Basil Alsubee is a senior at the University of Michigan studying History, Political Science, and Global Media Studies. As a Syrian who grew up in an immigrant Syrian community in Saudi Arabia, Basil has always been passionate about contributing to refugee issues. Working with Karam Foundation, Basil has conducted research on global higher education reform for refugees. Through MRAP, Basil coordinates workshops to make higher education and employment more accessible for refugees both locally and internationally. He also co-directed a short film on displacement at the University of Michigan titled “Blurred Canvases.”

Yusra Sannah

Treasurer

Yusra Sannah is a sophomore at the University of Michigan majoring in neuroscience with interests in bioinformatics and biotechnology. As a first-generation Syrian-American, she has been greatly influenced by the humanitarian crisis in Syria and is driven to make a difference. In addition to her work with [RE]vive, Yusra leads weekly virtual English speaking classes with Syrian refugees through Paper Airplanes and heads the Outreach team of Michigan Neuroprosthetics, providing upper limb prosthetics to pediatric clients in the US and abroad. Yusra hopes to attend medical school in the future.

Dora Koski

Secretary

Dora Koski is a sophomore at the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, with an intended focus in international education and peace-building, and a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. As a researcher for the Michigan Foreign Policy Council, she has studied educational curriculum in the Middle East and how it can be improved to empower refugees. At [RE]vive she is working on the Davis Peace Project Team, and is helping lead bi-weekly workshops, as well as coordinating with the English-as-a-second-language program through MRAP.

Dana Marion

Grand Rapids coordinator

Dana Marion is a freshman at the University of Michigan majoring in International Studies with a minor in Education for Empowerment. She grew up in San Antonio, TX and tutored elementary-age refugee students at the Center for Refugee Students for four years. She also travelled to Mae Sot, Thailand to study to Rohingya refugee crisis and met with local NGOs. In the future, Dana hopes to focus on refugee education in a non-profit or international government setting.

Aleezay Khan

ann Arbor/Detroit Coordinator

Aleezay Khan is a sophomore at the University of Michigan majoring in Biology, Health, and Society with a minor in Sociocultural Anthropology. Her experiences as a first-generation immigrant living in several different countries has fueled her passion for combating barriers and inequities among immigrant communities including refugees. Through [Re]vive, she hopes to expand college preparatory and professional development resources to refugee youth in the Ann Arbor and greater Detroit area. Aleezay intends to pursue a career in medicine with a focus on community and global health.
